You will find that Dr. Seaton is very attentive and thorough in her examination and treatments. Aside from pain relief, Dr. Seaton’s goal is to restore and then maintain your optimal function.

Your First Visit

After filling out the necessary paperwork, Dr. Seaton will take a thorough history of your current problem, any previous health concerns, and ask you about your current exercise and diet. She will then do a thorough examination, during which she’ll let you know if she finds anything significant. Afterward she will discuss treatment options with you. The initial visit usually includes a treatment. Allow one and a half hours for this first visit.

Subsequent Visits

Dr. Seaton will always take a short history, review any exercises that you’ve been given, discuss any nutritional issues, re-examine any areas of concern, and then treat your condition appropriately.

TREATMENT

Treatment may be mainly physical in nature, or a nutritional/functional medicine consultation. If your problem is musculoskeletal, you may be treated using both active and passive methods. Active care includes rehabilitative exercises to normalize joint and muscle function. Passive care includes various manual techniques
as well as modalities such as ultrasound and interferential current. We find the therapies that will work best to help your body to heal quickly and to improve your function for the future.

Passive Therapy

Chiropractic Adjustive Techniques:

Diversified adjustments, chiropractic manipulation, biomechanical blocking, biomechanical use of Activator ®, Cox flexion/distraction, oscillatory and reflex techniques.

Physical Modalities:

Various massage and soft tissue techniques, ultrasound, interferential current, TENS, taping.

Established patients can combine full body massage therapy with chiropractic treatments.

Active Therapy

An active therapy program is customized for each individual patient. The therapy may consist of stretching, strengthening, proprioceptive/coordination exercises.

A low-tech approach is used with minimal equipment (Swiss ball, exercise bands, rocker-boards, foam rollers).

Functional Medicine

A complete Functional Medicine work-up is available. Dr. Seaton also applies the principals of Functional Medicine to her regular chiropractic practice. In addition to the active and passive therapy, Dr. Seaton can advise you on nutritional and supplement matters.
