Vitamin D Reduces Risk of Pancreatic Cancer

 

Vitamin D has been getting a lot of press lately—and rightfully so. It has long been assumed that as long as you have a little bit of exposure to sunlight daily, you’ll be getting enough vitamin D. During the past few years this assumption has been disputed. An article published in the September issue of Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention pooled data from two very large studies, with a total of 75,427 female subjects and 46,771 male subjects and looked at vitamin supplements and food intake of vitamin D. Those consuming more than 600 IU per day in supplement form or 300 IU per day in food were less likely to get pancreatic cancer.

Vitamin D is found in dark fish and fortified milk.
